learning to hem can save a lot

My mother did not inherit my grandmother's sewing talents, and neither did I.  But I did learn to hand sew a hem and that has really come in handy since I am short and need most of my pants taken up.  And today, I turned two pairs of my son's jeans that had holes in the knees into denim shorts.
